I have always been obsessed with animals and as a child when I wasn't chasing after them trying to cuddle them, I was drawing pictures of them. I studied art up to 'A'level which I really enjoyed but I never found a medium I really fell in love with. After high school I didn't pick up a pencil for decades and only started drawing regular

I studied art up to 'A'level which I really enjoyed but I never found a medium I really fell in love with. After high school I didn't pick up a pencil for decades and only started drawing regularly again during lock down and remembered how much I enjoyed it!

My Background
I use Faber Castell polychromos colour pencils and Caran d'Ache Luminance colour pencils. They both have a fabulous range of colours and you can get a lot of layers into your work to give depth and details which is especially great for fur and feathers! I draw on a variety of surfaces but my favourite is grafix drafting film because I like a very smooth finish on my portraits.

I love all animals and am inspired to recreate the beauty of wildlife and the natural world in my work.
Drawing people's treasured pets also provides the challenge of capturing each animal's character and being able to provide someone with a unique, personal portrait. Having a client say to me that I have succeeded in doing this inspires me more than anything!
